At the inaugural October Open in Rathdrum today, Aisling Miller Captain of DURC took first place with a score of 586, a final score of 101.8 and a tie-break score of 10.3. Second was Conor McDermottroe also of DURC with a score of 585, a final score of 102.8 and a tie-break score of 9.7. Michael Madigan of Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club was third with a score of 581 and a final score of 101.0.
Scores continue to rise in these events and today was no exception with almost the entire field scoring over 560. The final was extremely close with the lowest score being 577. Conor trailed Aisling until the very last shot of the final when he equalled her total score with a 10.0 against her 9.5. For the first time ever there was a shoot-off for first place which resulted in Aisling taking the prize after shooting 10.3 and Conor scoring 9.7.
The 3x20 event was won by Sean Baldwin of the Defence Forces Shooting Team with a score of 561.
